Brady McLearen works spontaneously using ceramics, wood, plaster, metal, found objects and most recently glass.  His approach to finding new ideas can be improvisational and at times reckless.  Inspired by history, evolution and behavioral science he produces both functional and sculptural work that focuses on the philosophical and the absurd.  Brady’s work combines articulated forms, vibrant glazes and raw material textures drawing on the language of avant-garde movements from the early 20th century including Abstract Expressionism, Minimalism, Gutai and the Dada Spirit.  He holds a BFA from the University of Minnesota and an MFA from Alfred University at the New York State College of Ceramics.  He currently teaches community ceramic art classes in Saint Paul and is full-time Art Department Manager at Anoka Ramsey Community College.
